Latuda White Lady Ghost In Utah

Ghosts in Utah

Just like many western states, Utah has its share of creepy ghost stories, like the white lady of Latuda.

Today, the coal camps of the 1800s are no more than ghost towns. Little is left of these ghost towns; many choked out by the sagebrush, or lost in the depth of some canyon.

One such Utah ghost story is that of the white lady that haunts the ghost town of Latuda, located in Carbon County, up Spring Canyon.

At one time the mine near Latuda, also known as Liberty, once employed over 100 men, and the community grew to include shops, and other businesses. The town was estimated to have a population of 400 during its heyday, and for a mining camp this was quite large.

Life was great for those in Latuda; that was until disaster struck in 1927, when several avalanches came down the canyon walls to destroy a number of homes, and killed several people.

Although the town would still exist for a few more decades, it did eventually fade away and by the late 1960s there was little left but the abandoned mine, and the mining company building.

For years it has been rumored that a lady in white haunts the ruins of this ghost town, she can be seen wandering the town, as well as the mine.

The most common explanation for the ghost known as the lady in white of Latuda, is that she was a young mother, who had on that fateful day in 1927 left her child sleeping at home while she ran a quick errand at the general store.

After the avalanche killed her child, she hung herself in the upper floors of the mine office.

Many people have reported seeing this ghost, including hikers, and those who have lived in the area for years.

To this day the lady in white walks the streets of this ghost town, seemingly unaware that the town now lay in ruins.

Strange UFO Sightings in Utah

UFO Sightings in Utah

In the early 1980s someone told me about a very strange experience they had with a UFO in Utah.

Though their story was told to me in 1983, it had taken place a few years earlier.

This person told me that while walking near 12th street in Ogden, Utah they sighted, what appeared to be a very large, floating white bag.

The diameter of this object was 5 feet.

Along with this person was a friend; so two people witnessed this Unidentified Flying Object.

These two witnesses were curious about how this large bag looking thing was floating, as there was no wind that night.

They began to follow the object, and as they followed, it began to move away, toward Ogden Canyon.

A little mystified, the duo decided to toss rocks at the object; when they hit it they heard a distinct metallic sound and suddenly the object began to illuminate from within.

Within moments the object began to move quickly up the canyon, disappearing.

A Similar UFO Sighting in Utah

I have to admit that the story was so strange that I didn’t pay to much attention to it, that was until I heard a very similar story, 20 years later, of a UFO in an area very close to this original sighting. According to the story, this would have also taken place in the late 1970s.

This story begins with two friends returning to Ogden from Evanston Wyoming, by way of Monte Cristo. When coming from Wyoming to Ogden you would enter this road from the opposite side of the canyon from the other UFO sighting.

These two friends were driving near Pine View Reservoir on their way home to the Ogden area.

The passenger was asleep at the time of the incident, but was quickly startled awake by what happened next.

The driver of the truck explains that it was very dark that night, though they were not far from the bar known as Chris’; suddenly a large white object that resembled a plastic bag floated onto the road, in front of the truck.

Hitting the breaks instinctively, the witness was still unable to keep from hitting the white, floating object. Surprisingly, when they hit the object, there was a tremendous crash, and the truck was jarred, just as if they’d collided with a heavy metal object.

At this point the passenger was startled awake by the crash; the driver pulled off to the side of the road so that the two of them could search the area and determine what it was they’d hit.

Although they search in all directions from the truck, they could find nothing to indicate what the flying object was.

The people who told me these stories did not, and still do not know each other, and neither one of these people knew of the other’s sighting.

If anyone else has ever witnessed something like this, I would very much like to hear from you. Please email me your story here.

When I Was 5

At 5 years old (I was in kindergarten) I was asleep in my bed and it was very late - around midnight. While asleep, I found myself outside of my house hovering about 60-80 feet above our street. As I looked out, I could see my house and then I looked down my street. There was something around me. It was like a cloud but yet there were no clouds - certainly not this low anyway. It was more like a mist but thicker and very white and I knew it was "someone". Weird to say that but that's the feeling that I was given, which was that this thing I was looking at and feeling around me was a living being.

While I hung there in the sky, I saw a truck coming down our street and a car pulled up to the corner by our house (station wagon). Suddenly the car pulled out and crashed into the truck. My dad was on his ham radio in the basement. The dream I was having was a major REM sleep dream with all of the vivid descriptions of an OBE.

In the blink of an eye I was in the basement of my house looking at my dad and then suddenly I was looking through his eyes at a set of headlights coming toward the window in the basement. Also, I looked back toward the stairs (because my dad turned to run toward the stairs) and I saw a woman I had never seen before standing on the bottom step. I saw more but Iʼll explain later below.

Suddenly I hear a crash and it wakes me up. I go downstairs crying and my momʼs on the phone and my dad ran out into the backyard. My mom was on the phone talking to the police about the car crash. Nobody was saying anything to us for what seemed like a long time and we started to all cry. After a while I heard police sirens and shortly afterwards I heard a fire truck coming. By now my two sisters are crying a lot because nobody will tell us what happened. I then said to my mom that I saw the truck crash into the car at Peggyʼs house (my friend across the street). The car hit the house and they her mom and dad were on the sofa watching Lawrence Welk. Well she knew I was in bed when it happened and so she asked me what I was talking about. I told her that when I was sleeping I saw a truck coming down the street and a station wagon crashed into it. There is no way in the world I could have seen that since I was in bed and she certainly wouldnʼt let us go outside to see what happened. It was here that she knew that I was just like her and could see things that other people couldnʼt see.

I told my mom (in my 5-year-old voice) that after the truck hit the station wagon that it came toward our house and it hit the corner of the house and then went toward our new garage (just skimming it) and then hit our old garage. It crushed my bicycle sitting outside of the garage. The truck didnʼt stop there though because it kept on going another 50 feet or so and went down an embankment and crashed nose first. The man in the truck died and his ear was cut off. I donʼt know what happened to the driver of the station wagon.

I saw all of that before I had woken up out of this sleep I was in.

There was one moment when my mom let us go to the screen door at the back of the house to watch the commotion. There was the local television news crew back there and my dad was mad because they wouldn't get off of our property and just wanted to film the ugly stuff. My dad got in an argument with a camera man and my dad punched him in the face. Luckily this was a time when the police didn't take you to jail for such things. This event is a true experience of mine and it took place in 1957 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

What About Skeptics of the Paranormal

Have you ever had a run in with someone that was so closed to the idea of the paranormal; it almost felt like that walked around with blinders on?
I know how this feels because my significant other is so closed to the idea of the paranormal that some of the explanations he comes up with or more bizarre than a paranormal explanation. The experience is extremely frustrating to say the least.
Having an open mind and being skeptical is a must, as there are a lot of things that can appear to be paranormal in nature but still have a natural explanation, but there are still many things that are not easily explained away.
Someone with a closed mind just cannot grasp this, so they are not just skeptical, they close their mind completely. They absolutely refuse to accept any type of paranormal explanation, no matter how much sense it makes.
So how do you deal with this? The fact is you really can’t do anything to change someone’s mind about this. They either have to experience something so extraordinary that they have no choice but to take a second look at their beliefs, or they will never believe. Sadly, often even when they do experience something like this, they will explain it away, no matter what it takes, or how ridiculous the explanation is.
Unfortunately, the very nature of the paranormal makes it nearly impossible to prove and so if you believe or not is up to you.
Though it probably will do no good, the next time a skeptic gives you a bad time about what you believe, here are some things you can combat the argument with.
Some of the common explanations for the paranormal include,
Alien Abduction: Sleep paralysis seems to be the most frequent explanation for this phenomenon, and to be fair it probably does account for a great many of these occurrences, but there’s only one problem. A large number of them do not occur while the person is asleep, and many are not even in bed. Of course there are always those abduction cases where more than one person is involved. The sleep paralysis argument just doesn’t fly, at least not with a large percentage of cases.
The Near Death Experience: The common explanation for this is that the whole experience is a chemical reaction in the brain, a reaction to the dying process. The problem with this explanation is that there are some cases where the person who experiences the NDE, has no heartbeat, or brain waves. In other words, the whole body I completely dead, including the brain, there is no function. If there is no brain function, there can be no experience, no memory, no anything. But still, during the time there is no heartbeat or brain activity, the person is still seeing what’s happening in the room. The only possible way this could happen is if they are outside of their body, and their memories and consciousness exists separate from the brain.
If these provable cases are similar to others, how can you be sure that they are not all real?
Ghosts: Refer to the information on NDE. If someone is experiencing something outside of their body when they are clinically dead, including having no brain waves, then they are a ghost, and if they are a ghost, why couldn’t those who do not return be ghosts as well?
This is aside from the countless witnesses of apparitions or the presence of invisible entities. This is something I have encountered first hand so I know this is real, but if someone has never experienced this directly it’s easy to see how they would be skeptical. I would be if I hadn’t have witnessed it with my own eyes.
If you do your research, for many aspects of the paranormal, you can counter the “logical explanations”
What it really comes down to is that as long as you know, that’s what counts. You are fortunately to have an insight into a reality that others simply can’t see, and in a sense this is a gift. Keep that in mind whenever a skeptic begins telling you how foolish your beliefs are.

Medium / Clairvoyant Lisa Williams

I recently had the opportunity to see Lisa Williams live. I had watched her shows on TV, and although she seemed to be extraordinarily good at what she does, I decided to reserve judgment until I’d watched her live.
For those who are unfamiliar with Lisa Williams, she is a medium/clairvoyant who allegedly has the ability of communicating with the dead.
If you have done any research at all on mediums, you have probably heard the term cold read, etc. This is where they get the person to reveal details without the person realizing it.
When I went to this show I was watching carefully for this technique, and I have to say I just didn’t see it. Lisa Williams was amazing, and gave these people details, not just any details, but such personal and minute details, there is simply no way she could have known.
Lisa Williams is definitely someone worth checking out. Not only does she seem to be very good at what she does, but she has an extremely likable personality.

After Death Communications

A large percentage of those who lose a loved one tend to have what is known today as, After Death Communications. One of the most common methods that those who have passed tend to communication is through dreams, although there are other methods that are also used.

Some researchers theorize that the reason that dreams are the most common form of after death communication is that the dreamer is in an altered state of consciousness, enabling the spirit to make contact.

Another method of the dead communicating with the living is through an actual physical manifestation where they appear to their loved ones, often telling them that they are happy where they are and that their loved one should grieve no more.

Some people have even reported phone calls from their deceased friends or family. Though phone communication with the dead is rare, it has been reported. When on the phone the voice is usually unmistakably as belonging to the person who has passed. They may just say hello, ask for someone, or actually tell the person on the other end that they are fine.

In addition to these forms of after death communication there are some more subtle communications, such as an odor or scent that you may easily associate with a passed loved one. This could be a perfume, cigar smoke, etc. The scent often has no source and disappears as quickly as it appeared.

Other signs of communication could include pictures of your loved one falling, or other mementos showing up continuously. All of these things could be attempts at communication.

Haunted Cemeteries

There are several graveyards across the country that has the dark reputation for being haunted. A cemetery may be haunted for several different reasons, some theory of why a graveyard may be haunted include, improper burials, unmarked graves, or the graves being disturbed for some reason.

One of the most ominous of these famous haunted cemeteries is the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 - New Orleans. At this cemetery there are several legends of ghostly residence but perhaps the most famous is that of the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, Marie Laveau. It is the oldest cemetery in New Orleans and quite possibly the creepiest graveyard in the United States. At the St. Louis Cemetery you’ll find aboveground tombs and mausoleums, dark paths and memorials.

Another haunted graveyard is the Old Western Burial Ground in Baltimore. Here you will find the final resting place of several generals of the Revolutionary War, along with Edgar Allan Poe. A section of the cemetery can only be reached through catacombs below Westminster Presbyterian Church, where many ghosts are said to linger.

Probably one of the most famous haunted cemeteries is the Resurrection Cemetery in Chicago. This graveyard is supposed to be home to one of the most notorious ghosts in Illinois, Resurrection Mary. This is a ghost of a young woman who died on her way home from a dance, and often asks people for a ride home, but disappears while in the car. There are several versions of this story, but that is the basics.

These are only a few of the many cemeteries around the world that have a reputation for being haunted from the most high profile cemeteries of Victorian London, to hometown graveyards. If you are interesting in investigating a haunting you may want to consider looking for the legends of ghosts in your local cemetery.

Angels in Disguise

Throughout the ages people have reported strange encounters with strangers that were so strange and unsettling that they become convinced that they have been in the company of an angel.
Although there have been some reports of people seeing the traditional version of an angel, with the white robe, wings etc, far more often these angelic beings tend to appear in times of need in the form of a stranger who shows up out of nowhere to help you, disappearing just as fast.
Angels tend to appear during times of stress, danger, as well as during a near death experience. Approximately 50% of children who have a near death experience mention an angel encounter during their experience. This percentage is far lower with adults, though it does happen.
Angels have appeared as normal looking people, with long white robes and wings, as they are depicted in Christian art. Some people believe that their loved ones can become their guardian angels after they have passed on.
No matter what your personal belief about angels is, it’s difficult to completely dismiss the millions of stories people from all over the world tell about their encounters with angels.

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." - Hebrews 13:2 of the Bible

Young Girl Sees Deceased Grandmother

My grandmother passed away when I was 11 years old. I was very close to my grandmother and she always told me that she wanted to me to be a good girl, and stay away from drinking and smoking etc.
A few years after my grandmother passed away I had started hanging out with a bad bunch of kids that were into partying. On this particular evening my parents were gone and I was home with my older sister; I was about 15 and she was 17. Well my sister decided to take a walk down the street with some of her friends and she told me she would be right back.
It was just about dusk, I stayed behind and turned on the stereo in the living room so that I could listen to music while my sister and her friends were gone. Only a few minutes after she’d left I saw my grandmother float from the hall into the living room. I stood there, dumbfounded, and yes I was scared to death. She didn’t walk; she just floated, stopping not far from where I stood by the stereo. She simply looked at me at shook her head in disapproval; after that she vanished.
I was so terrified that I ran out of the house and into the front yard. I was screaming and crying; I could see my sister and her friends down the street. As soon as my sister noticed me, she came running back; she was a little over half a block away. When she returned I was too traumatized to tell her what had happened, but after a while I did.
She did not really believe me, but thought maybe someone had gotten into the house, so her and her friends went to check out the house. They found nobody, as I knew they wouldn’t.

Dad pays one last visit in a dream

My dad passed away when I was 18 years old. I will never forget that morning as long as I live. I had just graduated high school a few months before and was now employed at a grocery store, in the meatpacking department. I was still living at home and when I’d left that morning everything was fine, but shortly after my workday started I received a phone call from my mom saying I was needed at home right away. At that point they didn’t tell me what was wrong for fear of me being too upset to make it back home.
When I got home my mom told me that dad had passed away that morning shortly after I left. My younger sister found him; he’d apparently had a heart attack while dressing that morning. My dad was in his sixties at the time so it was a tremendous surprise, though devastating all the same.
I took the passing of my dad very hard, so hard in fact that I believe I may have been in denial; I didn’t think I could face the funeral. The night before the funeral I told my mother that I would not be going; she was very disappointed but didn’t push me to go, as I think she understood what I was feeling.
That night I dreamed that everyone was in the front yard, getting ready to go to the funeral, but I was still in the house. My dad walked into my bedroom and told me that I needed to go to the funeral. I told him I just couldn’t face it, but he said that I should go, that everything would be okay.
When I woke up the next morning my dad’s old hat was sitting on the nightstand next to my bed, and to this day I don’t know how it got there. I asked everyone in the house but no one claimed responsibility for placing dad’s hat in my room.
I felt that dad had paid me one last visit to help me get through my grief. Needless to say, I did end up going to the funeral.

The Gypsy

This is a strange story that was told to me by my mother many years ago. When I was a child there was an old cabin that sat next to the river that went through our town. It seemed out of place because all the other buildings on the street were modern.
My mother told me that an old gypsy lived in the cabin and that people in town often went to her to have their fortune told; although my own mother would never go. When I asked her why she said that a few years prior to that point in time, one of her friends had gone to the old woman, and was told that her little girl would die on her birthday.
Naturally, her friend was very paranoid and kept a close eye on the child, who was only like five years old. She wouldn’t even let the little girl go out and play.
Well on the child’s next birthday she was standing by their living room window, looking out when a car went out of control and burst through the window, killing the little girl.
