Haunted Ships: The USS Hornet

The USS Hornet is said to be one of the most haunted ships of all time. Today, this ship has its home at the Alameda Naval Base. Like any ship with a long history, the USS Hornet has seen its share of misery and death. In its 27-year history, over 300 people have died on board the USS Hornet.
Though many of these casualties were the result of combat, there were some who were killed due to accidents, but many also committed suicide. For some reason the USS Hornet had more suicides that any other ship to sail the seven seas.
Perhaps due to its history of tragedy, there have been many reports over the years of strange occurrences onboard the USS Hornet. Doors open and shut by themselves, objects disappearing, or moving from one place to another without explanation. Ghostly sailors have been spotted moving about the ship, and it isn’t unusual to feel someone touch or shove you if you find yourself alone on the haunted vessel. Many people report a strange feeling when boarding this ship.
If you would like to check out this haunted ghost ship for yourself, it is located in Alameda California, and is worth a visit, even if for its historical significance.
