Curse of the Salem Witch Trials

The Salem witch trials wreaked havoc on the lives of many innocent people, and out of the ashes came a curse that some say still haunts Salem to this day.
As the story goes, a man by the name of Giles Corey, along with his wife, was accused of witchcraft. It was common for the property of those who were convicted of witchcraft to be confiscated, and to avoid this; Giles Corey refused to admit to any wrongdoing or witchcraft, hoping to save his property for his children.
On the grounds that is now known as Howard Cemetery, Giles was tortured as the sheriff piled boards and stones on him until he was crushed to death. As the legend goes, Giles Corey uttered a curse against the sheriff and all of Salem with his dying words.
Oh but curses can’t be real?
Coincidently, each and every sheriff has died while in office or been forced out because of health ailments since this curse was uttered in 1692; in addition to this, Salem has had its share of massive tragedies over the years. It has been said that before each tragedy strikes, someone in the town of Salem sees the ghost of Giles Corey.
